Our Mission

SBU Photography Club is a media club dedicated to providing students, who have an interest in photography, a space to be and express their creative selves. While promoting creativity through photography, we also aim to share knowledge by education and improving technical skills through our bi-weekly GBMs and photo walks. We encourage photographers of all levels to join us.

FAQ

Do I need a camera to be a general body member?

Not at all! Any kind of camera is allowed.

What if I can’t join events?

No worries! We understand everyone’s schedule will not match up with some of our events, so we try to diversify our schedule with workshops, photowalks, and events being on different dates. Photo Challenges are great to participate in if you’re unable to attend any events because we do not require attendance to accept your submissions. Learn more about photo challenges here

When do you hold your events?

Our current schedule of events is as followed

1st Week - Workshop

2nd Week - Photowalk

3rd Week - Event

4th Week - Photo Challenge

How can I be added to the mailing list?

Ask any E-board member and provide them with your SBU email or send us a quick email through our contact form to be added!

What is the City Photowalk?

Every semester we take a trip to New York City to explore new places and practice our photography. We take our executive board and a select group of students to travel with us.

During the semester, we will send out an email regarding info on the Photowalk once we finalize the plan. We will be giving out tickets but it will be first come first serve and attendance with the club will be taken into consideration. Learn more here
